Sensei Daley

Sensei Daley was born Kenneth Paul Daley on October 2, 1966 in Concord, NH, to father John Paul Daley and mother Abigail Norton Daley.  Being one of six children in a hard working family taught all the children the value of teamwork, sharing and carrying your own load.  “You split wood to stay warm and worked in the garden to help keep food on the table.  We all had our chores and knew what was expected of us.  We did not receive an allowance or pay it was just part of being in a strong family unit.”  These very simple but powerful values are the main driving force Sensei Daley believes have assisted him in his martial arts career and personal achievements.  A devoted family man now himself, he, his three daughters and beautiful wife strive to keep the “old ways” alive while still blending in with today’s fast passed modern world.

Beginning his martial arts journey at the age of seven, Sensei Daley has been training and studying several forms of the arts for nearly 34 years.  “During these years I have been privileged to study under many gifted, famous, infamous and sometimes even eccentric teachers all leaving there mark on my life and training progress.”  Although Sensei Daley’s career is filled with many personal achievements and awards he understands that a Sensei’s real depth and value is not what he himself alone can or has achieved, but is in what he can foster and grow in his students to help them realize their own crowning moments in the arts and life.

Don’t pretend to be a great master and don’t try to show off you strength”.

-Gichin Funakoshi

He began teaching in 1984 and soon discovered that helping people of all ages unlock the secrets of the martial arts was his path in life.  “Teaching others has proven to be one of the most effective ways for me to develop a true understanding of the arts.  Finding ways to effectively communicate the subtle principles of the arts to people of all shapes, sizes, ages, backgrounds, etc…has strengthened my technique and brings me ever closer to the Bushido way of life.”

“A man who understands decorum and the courtesies is a great treasure;
I hope to train and send forth as many such men as I can.”

-Mas Oyama

All the people Sensei Daley has trained with and competed against have been important in many ways, but two individuals in particular are directly responsible for igniting the karate flame that still burns brightly inside.   “Without their patience, wisdom, encouragement, incredible devotion and mastery of the martial arts I would have only learned the movements of karate and not the true meaning behind them.  For their role in my quest to reach a Bushido Spirit and the life skills passed on. I will always hold Master Fredrick Bagley and Grand Master Steven DeMasco in the highest possible regards.”
